Facilitated by experienced dance movement psychotherapy practitioners, this five-day summer school offers participants an insight into core aspects of Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP). DMP has been part of the Arts and Play Therapies profile at Roehampton for over 27 years, and we offer a unique, integrative approach; our framework is grounded within contemporary bio-psycho-social understandings of embodiment. The Roehampton programme emphasises a critical consideration of different descriptions and explanations of bodies, human systems and therapeutic practices in different places and times. We actively promote a participatory atmosphere and self-reflexive practice, encouraging critical reflection on creative processes, mutual influence and the construction of social and power differentials, both in learning and psychotherapy.

Courses will be held on site at our Roehampton Campus. Our Summer Schools are suitable for students with no prior knowledge of the subject or who have taken part in our Introductory sessions. You’ll receive a certificate of attendance if you attend a minimum of 70% of sessions and complete the informal assessment process.
