This enables flexibility, offering the option to study the Intermdiate Course first, and the Advanced course either straight after or the following year.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. These courses are suitable for Health Professionals, Social Workers, Teachers and anyone else interested in finding out about Art Therapies. The following course is offered on a part-time basis for 10 weeks. The course compromises of two half day workshops and 8 evening classes.

Course Description

We have been running our highly successful Art Psychotherapy Foundation course for many years.

The general aim and intention of this course is to provide a broad outline and introduction to the subject of Art Psychotherapy. At Roehampton we consider that Art Psychotherapy is one of the 'Psychological Therapies' and that other Psychological Therapies include disciplines such as Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy

As a specialised form of Psychotherapy that it is largely underpinned by Psychoanalytical theories, our Foundation Course is largely underpinned and informed by theories and models from Jungian 'Analytical Psychology'. The course itself is highly 'experiential' in nature. However, we stress that it is not intended to provide 'therapy' as such to the participants

The programme of experiential workshops will start with a half-day induction and introductory workshop to begin the course, to be held in October, with weekly evening classes to follow and finishing with a half Plenary Day to close in December. These workshops will be facilitated by qualified and experienced art therapists.
