Course Description

This hands-on two-day course provides a practical introduction to digital photography, helping you develop the skills and confidence to get more from your camera and your photographs.

Through a combination of tutor-led guidance and hands-on practice, you'll explore the fundamental principles that underpin successful photography. You'll learn how cameras capture images, how key settings influence the final result, and how to make informed creative decisions when taking photographs.

The course will introduce essential photographic techniques, including composition, exposure, focus, lighting, and visual storytelling. You'll have opportunities to practise these skills in a supportive environment in our on-campus photography studio.

Alongside technical skills, you'll explore how photographers use creative approaches to capture different subjects and moods, helping you develop your own photographic style and confidence. Throughout the course, the emphasis is on learning by doing, allowing you to apply new techniques and see immediate improvements in your work.

By the end of the course, you'll have a stronger understanding of your camera's capabilities, greater confidence in taking photographs, and practical skills that you can continue to build on through further study, personal projects, or photography as a rewarding hobby.
