This is the Intermediate Foundation, running October - December. The Advanced Foundation follows on from this course and runs January - March. It is advisable to participate in the Intermediate Foundation before the Advanced Foundation. This enables flexibility, offering the option to study the Intermdiate Course first, and the Advanced course either straight after or the following year.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. These courses are suitable for Health Professionals, Social Workers, Teachers and anyone else interested in finding out about Arts / Music Therapies. The following course is offered on a part-time basis for 10 weeks. The course compromises of two half day workshops and 8 evening classes.

Course Description

The course will provide an overview of music therapy practice in the UK and follow the psychodynamic model as taught on the Roehampton University MA training.

A programme of experiential workshops will be led by the course facilitator. One half-day Induction (Saturday) and introductory workshop to begin the course to be on 10 October 2026 with weekly evening classes to follow; finishing with a half Plenary Day to close on 5 December 2026. 

Participants will be encouraged to keep a personal diary of the course, with particular emphasis on their psychological process in and via the experiential sessions.

Reading will be suggested.
