It focuses on relational and embodied approaches, integrating somatic and intersubjective perspectives. You’ll learn to move from therapist to supervisor by developing presence, awareness of relational dynamics, and ethical responsiveness. Through experiential methods, including role work, live supervision labs, reflective practice, and mentoring, you’ll build a confident supervisory voice that supports both individual and group processes. The course emphasises embodied ways of knowing and knowledge creation, exploring the relational process of power, diversity and ethics. The course is accredited by the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy (ADMP UK) and graduates will be eligible to apply for recognition as supervisors under ADMP UK. The course will focus on the five main functions of a supervisor within an embodied relational integrative approach: Education - the continuing professional development of the skill, knowledge and practice of the supervisee emphasising the embodied relational integrative approach to supervision. Facilitation - the co-creation of a learning environment that supports the development of embodied reflective skills fostering safe and effective practice Support - the encouragement and holding of the supervisee through positive as well as difficult circumstances of their clinical and professional practice Evaluation - the assessment of ongoing development in terms of effective practice, the meeting of recognised standards and constructive feedback to develop learning Gatekeeping - the assurance to all stakeholders that supervisees are adhering to good, fit, ethical practice, recognising where a supervisee is working beyond safe emotional and competency limits. In the case of trainees, this may include assessment of readiness to qualify or continue training
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Supervised Sessions & Placement Participants will arrange supervised practice under an (ADMP/ UKCP) Recognised Supervisor with oversight, ideally in individual and group supervision formats. A minimum number of 10 supervision hours is required. Observed supervision sessions, video or live, will form part of the formative assessment and feedback. A mentoring supervisor will monitor and support your progression in supervision competence. Assessment & Certification You will be assessed on the following Embodied Relational Supervision Practice Portfolio: • Reflective supervision presentation (Presented on the last weekend in December) • Supervision log (evidence of a minimum of 25 hrs of supervisory practice (15 hrs minimum of face to face) and minimum of 15 hrs of supervision) (Due in December) • Reflective practice report with feedback from supervisor, supervisee and peer (Due in December) Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion.
