Advanced Certificate of Professional Development in Food EducationInfo Location Course Information![]() 2 Intense Weeks (February and May 2025)This programme is a collaboration with Leiths School of Food and Wine. Leiths, along with the Food Teachers Centre (who are the subject association for Cooking in schools), are greatly concerned with the lack of teacher training for cooking in Schools. The UK government recognised the problem in its Government Food Strategy (June 2022) where it pledged to upskill teachers. That plan was quietly dropped and there are real issues with food skills in Schools. This programme is part of a suite of three products, all linked: · A PGCE in Food and Nutrition, launching in 5 locations nationally in September 2025 This Level 7 Advanced Certificate of Professional Development in Food Education · Individual CPD days At the heart of this project are 10 practical subject teaching days, each covering a different aspect of teaching Food in schools. These can be purchased individually or as a set of 10, which is this Level 7 certificate. She will be back in touch with a confirmation code enabling you to book the course. In 2024-25 and 2025-2026 these will be offered in two cohorts:
Cohort 2 - two full weeks of 5 days: Monday 27th October– Friday 31st October 2025 and Monday 16th February – Friday 20th February 2026
The ten days have the following titles: o Session 1: Introduction: Subject orientation and the art of demonstration o Session 2: Designing a food curriculum and cross curricular teaching through food o Session 3 : Setting up a food department and how to build a cost-effective scheme of work o Session 4 : Managing a practical food room and setting up a practical lesson o Session 5 : Health and Safety and how to incorporate food safety into practical lessons o Session 6 : Practical food lessons and how to incorporate food science into practical lessons o Session 7:Practical food lessons and how to incorporate food science into practical lessons o Session 8 : Assessment, progression of skills and differentiation o Session 9: GCSE non-exam assessments (NEA) o Session 10: Preparing for a practical interview task and interview Course CodeL7ACPDFE2425
