This course provides an overview of coaching, its history, its uses, and the

varied and continually evolving coaching methods. Students will differentiate

between coaching, coaching psychology, mentoring, and counselling/therapy.

The course will clarify the characteristics of a successful coach and those of a

coachable client. Through experiential learning during seminars and practical

group sessions, students will gain insights into the coaching relationship and

models. This course also focuses on managing the relationship between a client

and a sponsor, evaluating personal strengths, values, and motivations, and

applying an evidence-based approach to critical reflection and evaluation. It is

one of six modules designed to help participants apply for EMCC practitioner

accreditation as a coach.
