DescriptionThe training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to embark on your own theological action research project. The day is run by Dr Helen Cameron, Research Associate of the Centre for Baptist Studies at Regent’s Park College, Oxford and Dr James Butler, postdoctoral researcher at the University of Roehampton and MA lecturer at the Church Mission Society, Oxford. The training runs over two days. 9am to 12pm (UK time) on both days. It will be interactive and conversational and take place over Zoom. Early Bird Fees (now until 20/3/2023): Waged Researcher £50; Doctoral student £35. Standard fee (2/4/2022 - 21/4/2023): Waged Researcher £55; Doctoral student £40.

It will focus on the key characteristics of the method and introduce the process and main practices of theological action research. The training day is aimed at doctoral students and researchers and assumes some understanding and experience of qualitative research methods and practical theology. The training will be split into three sections of about one and a half hours each with breaks in between. The first section will focus on working collaboratively, identifying research questions and designing a project. The second section looks at what it means to be 'theological the whole way through' and working with the four voices of theology.
