Critical Existential-Analytic Psychotherapy & Counselling

This programme is for psychological therapists interested in continuous professional development.

The term ‘post-existentialism’ (Loewenthal, 2011) is taken to mean ‘after’ previous notions of existential and phenomenology, yet critically (Loewenthal, 2015) looking to retain what might be helpful with these notions together with aspects of subsequent developments. Post-existentialism will be explored in relation to individual and group psychotherapy, clinical supervision, ethical practice and research. Each term will focus on the inter-relationships between existentialism, psychoanalysis, postmodernism (Loewenthal and Snell, 2003) and neoliberalism respectively.
